LAW FOR ARCHITECTS WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Law for Architects: What You Need to Know provides guidance to professionals on issues where design and construction meet the legal system. The program will provide an introduction to legal issues that arise at every stage in the practice of architecture. It will focus on ways architects can manage their practice to limit risks through an understanding of how the practice of architecture intersects the law. "Real world" examples will demonstrate how an understanding of the legal aspects will benefit your practice. The speakers will identify many of the legal issues that lurk in every corner of a design practice and help identify what questions an architect needs to ask.
Learning Objectives:

SPEAKERS:
Robert F. Herrmann is a partner at the law firm of Menaker & Herrmann LLP, a general commercial practice firm in New York City. He acts as general counsel to a number of architects, engineers, interior designers, owners and contractors.
Bob is a graduate of Yale College and Columbia Law School. He is trained in mediation and is on the American Arbitration Association panel of construction mediators. Bob is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Sir John Soane's Museum Foundation. He has led numerous seminars for design professionals on a variety of topics and is a co-author with other attorneys at Menaker & Herrmann of Law for Architects: What You Need to Know, published by W.W. Norton in 2012.

Cheryl L. Davis is a partner at Menaker & Herrmann LLP. She is a litigator who concentrates in intellectual property matters (particularly copyright and trademark cases), employment, and real estate/construction related matters.
Cheryl is a graduate of Princeton and Columbia Universities (M.S.J. and J.D.), and is an active member of the American Bar Association, where she is the diversity co-liaison for the Forum on Entertainment and Sports Industries, and of the New York State Bar Association, where she is the co-Chair of the Diversity Committee for the Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law Section. She is also Vice President of Communications for the League of Professional Theater Women. She has participated in seminars and webinars for design professionals on a variety of topics and is a co-author of Law for Architects: What You Need to Know.
